If you saw the Kentucky Derby over the weekend you'll know who I'm talking about.
A silvery black thoroghbred filly lined up in the gates, anxiety welling up in each of the horses. The gates burst open, and the horses fly out, mounted with jockeys. Along the track they run, muscles rippling beneath their skin. Tails flying out behind them, manes whipped back. The sound of hooves thunderingdown the homestretch cause the crowd to cheer as a bay stallion, Big Brown, takes the kead with the black filly close behind. Big Brown wins the race, spooking over a nearby distraction as he triumphantly canters through the end of the track.

But tragdy grips Churchill Downs as everyone focuses on the black filly lying in her side in the middle of the track. Vets rush out, and announce the filly has broken both of her front ankles, and cannot be saved. This filly, known as Eight Belles, had to be put down.

Meanwhile, in my life, I get to stay home today because it's a Bad Weather day...and really, it is. It's rainy. XD And dark. Tomorrow I get to go to a Medival Times thing to see jousting, etc. So I only get three days of school this week.
